Today there’s all sorts of tools that make things easier to make things. Each day new projects are launched on Kickstarter, songs are posted on SoundCloud, and code is pushed to Github. Today, creating has never been easier.

Lately I’ve been fighting against my instinct to point out when something isn’t that great. It’s easy to identify the things that are wrong, but it’s difficult to credit the things that went right.

It takes 30 seconds to write a nasty tweet or Facebook post. But it takes hours, days, and years of determination and heartbreak to create something.

So before you criticize, try creating first.
