During our first child's first couple years, I could not wait for him to grow up so I could have conversations with him, kick a soccer ball around, and build LEGO worlds together.

A few years have past and he's done just that. He's an amazing person, filled with curiosity and joy.

Our second son came into the world recently, and his arrival has reminded me that new life is the purest innocence, and soon he too will grow up.

The lesson he's taught me is I was too impatient with our first.
